BASEMENTS AND CRAWL SPACES

ONE - BASEMENT ENTRY - The
New Jersey home inspections includes a visible
inspections of the exposed areas of the basement. The N
J home inspectors will inspect when accessible, the
basement entry. The basement entry is a very important
part of the inspection. Many times the stairs are in
poor condition for lack of maintenance, and the stairs
become a real safety hazard. For this reason, the entry
stairs will be examined for structure, functionality and
safety.
TWO - OVERALL SETTLEMENT - The New Jersey home
inspections includes a visible inspections of the
exposed areas of the basement. The N J home inspectors
will visible inspect the basement walls and floor for
settlement. Before inspecting specific areas of the
basement, our inspector will inspect and evaluate the
overall settlement of the foundation to determine if
there are any serious settlement problems.
THREE - FOUNDATION WALLS - The New Jersey home
inspections includes a visible inspection of the exposed
areas when feasible of the foundation walls. The
foundation walls and basement floor is of major
importance in a N J home inspection. The home inspectors
will inspect each and every wall of the foundation. He
will be looking for: settlement problems, bowing,
displacement, serious cracks, water penetration
problems, and any other type of damage to the foundation
walls.
FOUR - FOUNDATION FLOORS - G Warren Inc Home Inspector
will inspect exposed areas when feasible of : FOUNDATION
FLOOR - The floor of the basement will be inspected for:
cracks, sloping, concrete damage, unevenness, water
penetration.
G Warren Inc Home Inspector will inspect exposed areas
when feasible of : STRUCTURAL SUPPORT FRAMING - the
structural framing includes, rim joist, floor joists,
main beam, visible sub-flooring, and the support
columns. Our inspector will examine very carefully the
main beam and the floor joist for splits, deterioration,
and improper structural mounting and or, damaged support
areas.
CRAWL SPACES
G Warren Home Inspectors inspect, when feasible, exposed
areas of : FOUNDATION WALLS, STRUCTURAL FRAMING AND THE
FLOOR - Our inspector will inspect the crawl space
walls, floor, and structural framing the same way the
basement areas are inspected as described in the
basement section.
G Warren Home Inspectors inspect, when feasible, exposed
areas of : CRAWL SPACE FLOOR - The floor regardless of
the type of floor, is a very important part of the crawl
space inspection. Our inspector will inspect the floor
for standing water or heavy moisture penetration, which
is the main cause of wood rot in the crawl space.
G Warren Home Inspectors inspect when feasible, exposed
areas for : VENTILATION - the type and amount of
ventilation is of prime importance in the crawl space.
Good ventilation helps keep moisture in the crawl space
to a minimum, which is the best deterrent to wood rot.
G Warren Home Inspectors inspect , when feasible,
exposed areas for : WOOD ROT - Our inspector will
examine and probe the wood framing structure for wood
rot. Most times wood rot in the crawl area is caused by
water and moisture problems mentioned in the crawl space
moisture penetration section.

areas for : PLUMBING AND ELECTRIC IN THE CRAWL SPACE -
While inspecting the crawl, our inspector will inspect
any electric wiring and plumbing that may be in this
area. It is quite common to find problems in this area
with the plumbing and electric because of a lack of
inspection and maintenance.
